10 Apps You Can Get Paid to Lose Weight With

This post may contain affiliate links. See affiliate disclosure here.

When we talk about losing weight, we automatically imagine having to spend a lot of money on expensive exercise programs, gym memberships or boutique fitness studios.

While this certainly works for a lot of people, what about the rest of us who have to drag themselves to the gym just so that their money does not go to a complete waste or those who let their fitness resolutions slide the second they set their eyes on a pizza? (Who says no to a pizza, right?!)

They definitely need better motivation. Now imagine, if you could instead get paid to lose weight at home? How’s that for motivation? We have rounded up some terrific apps and ways that you can use to get into shape and make money from it too.

Get Paid to Lose Weight Apps

These workout and weight-loss apps are an outstanding side hustle for anybody, even if you don’t think you have time because you work full-time already. If you spend any amount of time at the gym or exercising at home, you can be rewarded for your hard work–financially, physically, and mentally.

1. Healthy Wage:

HealthyWage is one of the top diet betting apps. All you need to do is decide how much weight you wish to lose, how long you intend to take to achieve this goal and how much money you are willing to wager.

Once you have decided this, you can place your bet. Complete your profile and let the site calculate your payout if you can achieve your goals. In case you can’t, your money gets forfeited. You can choose to create personal challenges for yourself or be a part of a team challenge.

The team that loses the greatest percentage of weight wins the prize.

 2. Diet Bet:

DietBet is another great option for making weight-loss wagers. In this app, the participants are pooled into teams based on their goals. You can choose from the plans and weekly weight loss games whatever interests you and meets your fitness goal.

Enroll for a Kickstarter game to join if your goal is to lose 4% of your body weight. It costs around $30, and you get four weeks to lose your weight.

Or, choose a Transformer plan if you wish to lose 10% of your body weight which lasts for six months. You pay $25 per month or $125 if you pay it upfront. Meet your goals and share the pot with all the other participants who met their goals too.

They now also have RunBet for more ways to get paid to lose weight by running!

 3. StickK:

StickK is a lot similar to DietBet and HealthyWage as it also requires you to set your fitness goals and choose how much weight you want to lose or anything else that you want to achieve.

Then you need to sign a ‘commitment contract’ with yourself to make sure that you will achieve your goals. Place a wager based on your fitness goals. StickK does not take any upfront money from you, just the money you put as your wager.

If you are unable to meet your goals, your money gets forfeited. If you do meet your goals, you can request for a payout and get your money in your PayPal account within 72 hours.

 4. Achievement:

You may already have a default fitness tracker app in your phone like the Samsung Health App or Fitbit. These apps can keep a track on the steps you walk, the calories you consume each day and your sleep patterns, but they don’t pay you, right?

Achievement does all of this and pays you for it. What’s better is that it can connect with a host of other such fitness apps and trackers, so you don’t have to sign up for different fitness apps individually. Payments are made using PayPal or direct deposit. The easiest way to get paid to lose weight and make $10 in cash for every 10,000 points that you earn.

5. Bitwalking:

Bitwalking pays you to walk, running, and cycling to earn up to three walking dollars (W$) a day. It’s free to join Bitwalking and you can redeem your balance for merchandise rewards. For now, Bitwalking is only available for Android devices but an iOS app is in the works.

6.  Bounts:

Bounts works on Android as well as iOS. You can sync Bounts app with your other fitness accounts so that your activities can be tracked. You can earn points as you maintain a healthy lifestyle and complete different health-related activities, challenges and offers.

These points cannot be converted to cash, but you can redeem them to avail various discounts or free stuff from your retailers. You can even bet against yourself and earn additional prizes to stay on track and be encouraged to shed those extra kilos.

7. SweatCoins:

SweatCoin is a cool app that pays you to take outdoor steps (treadmills don’t count). For every 1,000 steps, you’ll receive 0.95 SweatCoins which you can save up to spend on awesome rewards.

By using your smartphone accelerometer and GPS, Sweatcoin verifies the number of steps you take each day and then converts them into special “sweatcoin” dollars- I think it calculates to about 20 sweatcoins to $1 and you get 1 sweatcoin daily for just being a member- hows that for an easy way to get paid to lose weight!

After you’ve earned a decent amount of SweatCoins, you can start to spend them on the available offers they have. Each day the offers inside the app will change and circulate, some examples of offers are amazon credits, audio books, iPhones or even cold hard cash! There is no specific time to cash in on the offers.

8. Higi:

Higi ‘stations’ are spread all throughout the United States in popular stores like Wegmans, Fred’s and Riteaid. In fact, they are even available in some Publix grocery stores. You can take your blood pressure, your pulse and figure your BMI at these stations, which are basically a little sit-down machine.

Once you connect your device to your HGI account, it can keep a track on your fitness progress and activities. There is also an option to connect with others and exchange each other’s stories for keeping motivated and encouraged.

When you participate in a higi challenge, you’ll earn “Watts” by measuring your biometrics on a higi station and by tracking your healthy activities. Once the challenge is complete, everyone who meets each designated milestone is eligible for that particular prize drawing.

9. Your Insurance Company:

You may not know this, but most of the insurance companies offer reward programs to encourage healthy behavior. You can simply call up your insurance provider and gain more knowledge about the reward programs they offer and how you can sign up. Some examples include Go365 offered by Humana or CareSource’s Active&Fit program that offers its cardholders fitness club memberships or low-cost gym.

 10. Walgreen’s Balance Rewards:

If you have a Walgreen’s store near you, you can sign up for their Balance Rewards program and earn rewards for your healthy habits. It could include anything from walking, cycling, and regular weight management to taking a blood pressure test, exercising or getting your glucose checked.

All you have to do is sync all your health-related activities with your fitness app so it can get tracked automatically and convert into points. These points don’t convert into cash, but you can use them on your next Walgreen purchases, so it is more or less the same thing. Walgreen also rewards you for other resolutions like quitting smoking. Amazing, right?

Final Thoughts on Apps to Get Paid to Lose Weight With:

These apps are great for motivation but the earning potential is not as high as some of the apps suggest. This is great for passive income and a great reminder to track your step, be more active, and watch your progress grow. Even a few extra bucks a month can be the reminder or encouragement you need to check in and work harder on your health goals.

I currently use SweatCoin and I have about 115.78 pending. Ive enjoyed using even though I know I m not getting rich!  Have you used or gotten paid by any workout apps like the ones I’ve listed? I’d love to know how your experience went and if it motivated you to lose weight at home and earn money.
