Gross Halloween Blood Stained Muffins Recipe

This post may contain affiliate links. See affiliate disclosure here.

This is the perfect gross Halloween muffin recipe! Kids eat them up and adults are always amazed at how good they are. The muffins turn out looking quite like normal muffins, however inside there is a big surprise!

These are super tasty too and end up so beautiful! Really, they are the most wonderful holiday muffins but by calling them Blood Stained Muffins it will scare anyone into giving a second look!

Blood Stained Muffins Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jelly, cherry pie filling, or plum jelly
  • To make them extra red and gooey you can add some red dye!

Blood Stained Muffins Directions

In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients. In another bowl, beat the egg, milk, butter and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Spoon half of the batter into 12 greased or paper-lined muffin cups. Spoon 1 teaspoon jelly in center of each. Fill muffin cups two-thirds full with remaining batter.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted 1 in. from the edge comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.
